Putin’ On Some Glitz

While working on my journal, I’ve also been making a few Glitz-Oh! earrings, and a few fun book necklaces.  The necklace idea is from when I took an Art & Soul workshop by Nina Bagley a number of years ago.  I liked what I made, but gosh, the supplies were all for people who planned to work in metal arts, which I didn’t (and don’t).  For our local art group, I thought it might be fun to make some mini book necklaces.  These are the three I made – nothing fancy, but they are fun to wear.  I also made a pair of earrings to go with the ‘jade/black’ necklace.

Mini coils – reminds me of my childhood coil toy!

For more fun, I’ve decided to make some Glitz-Oh! Stix! (c).   This is where you use up fibers that you don’t have enough to knit with, or you’re allergic to the wool to wear, but adore the fiber!  I’ve got a bazillion ‘Lumps’ of hand spun and hand-dyed wools from Tracie Lampe- (and here) I love her artistry with fiber, and the colors were irresistible!  However- besides yarn-bombing, I was looking for something else fun to do with them. (I’ve made purses and hats too).  These are now on my dining table, in one of my fun teapots!  I’ve had the 1 ft/ dowels for years…another ‘de-stashing’ put to use!  (I may use one or two of the dowels for a book binding.) In the meantime- instant decor, with so many colors to choose from.  I dangled some of my older Glitz-Oh! (c) beads from the dowels.
